|Jaap Jan Steensma||Lead corrosion in organ pipes II. Report on a new colloquium in the Orgelpark
Het ORGEL 112 (2016), nr. 2, 32-35 [summary]
Following the first colloquium on lead corrosion in organ pipes in
2015, a second meeting on the subject was held on Saturday, 6
February, 2016, again in the Orgelpark.? It was somewhat less
well attended than the first colloquium, but the attendance was
nevertheless fairly good. This indicates that, although it is a
rather abstract subject for many, lead corrosion has the
undiminished attention of those who are professionally involved with
the care of old organs.
Where in 2015 the experts from the Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed (RCE) [National Monument Service] led the discussion, this year the focus was on the expertise of the organ makers. The goal of this second colloquium was, in the words of the moderator Hans Fidom, to ‘scan’ the available knowledge and experience both in the Netherlands and elsewhere.
