|Peter van Dijk (with Cor Ardesch)||The Netherlands’ largest Ibach organ reborn; the main organ of the St.-Gertrudiskerk in Bergen op Zoom. Part 2
Het ORGEL 109 (2013), nr. 3, 4-13 [summary]
In the second part the recent restoration is described. Because other possibilities were found unsatisfactory, a choice was made for the least simple option, the reconstruction of the original organ. This option, however, brought with it the most complications, because the technical layout had largely been lost and because there was not an Ibach example available for each of the registers that had to be reconstructed, among other things. But at the same time it was a very ‘challenging’ option, also because there are so few examples extant of the imposing production of the firm of Ibach - and indeed not a single other 3-manual organ. The reconstruction of the Ibach organ, under the consultancy of Jan Jongepier and Rogér van Dijk, can be seen as very successful. The reconstructed instrument is not only an important enrichment of the Dutch organ landscape, but also of the European.
